The selection of people involved in editorial management should consider their research experience, knowledge of the journal’s field, availability to take on duties and commitment to rigorous and impartial evaluation.
Appointment and renewal
The proposal is to document each role’s responsibilities, assess potential conflicts of interest and periodically review performance and availability. Renewal should support both continuity and the introduction of new perspectives.
Awaiting approval: the body responsible for appointments, terms of office, selection procedure and grounds for removal.
