Recognising participation
Authorship should be agreed on the basis of substantial contributions to the work and willingness to take responsibility for its content. All authors should know and approve the submitted version.
Contribution statement
It is useful to describe who contributed to conceptualisation, methods, data collection or analysis, writing and revision. Contributions that do not qualify for authorship may be recognised in the acknowledgements.
Authorship changes
Requests to add or remove authors or change their order should be justified and agreed by the people affected.
